The maquette, cast in low-relief, shows a dancing woman depicted in the Art Deco style with an elongated and stylized body. The curved movement of her dancing pose is emphasized by her flowing garment and outstretched arm. She plays a pan flute and is surrounded by a field of geometric and abstract flowers. The maquette is constructed from a warm white plaster and would have been cast from a mold. Webbing was placed in the wet plaster during manufacture to provide structural support. The maquette was used in the deign of the elevator doors of the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City (built in 1931).
