Art Conservation
is the care of art and cultural heritage objects and the physical environments they reside in. As an objects conservator, I work on a variety of three-dimensional media including ceramics, metals, glass, wood, and mixed media.
On an average week, a museum art conservator wears many hats. We might be:
-
Repairing, cleaning, or stabilizing art objects.
-
Conducting research projects and sharing our findings with the conservation community and broader public audience.
-
Collaborating with curators, art handlers, and exhibition museum staff to ensure the safe display of artwork in the galleries.
